The main goal of Tales2Share project is to empower elderly women - both from local hosting communities and those from migrant backgrounds - to share their stories through the art of digital storytelling. As part of the ongoing project, a Transnational Training for Adult Educators was held in Cyprus, where educators from all partner countries gathered to learn new skills and methodologies for supporting elderly women in sharing their unique narratives.

The Tales2Share Transnational Training in Cyprus was focused on the professional development of adult educators. The purpose of the event was to equip the participants with various tools and new knowledge needed for the creation of digital storytelling workshops and Tales2Share hubs where elderly women, particularly those with migrant backgrounds, will feel safe and most importantly – included.

During the training, the modules of the professional development course were presented, covering essential topics such as: methods for creating an inclusive environment, ways to encourage active participation, digital tools, the importance of social belonging and active citizenship, etc. All topics aimed to improve educators’ skills in supporting elderly women in their storytelling journeys.

The impact of this training extends beyond just the participants as several podcasts of were recorded, which will serve as an invaluable resource for all adult educators, involved or not, in the project.

The Storytelling Guide for senior women from hosting communities or migrant background was also presented. The aim of this guide is to serve as a practical tool helping elderly women to express themselves more freely and confidently through digital storytelling. It also provides a structured framework for both educators and participants, ensuring that each story is given the attention and care it deserves.

The transnational training in Cyprus provided educators with insights into the benefits of digital storytelling as a tool for empowerment and inclusion. All participants learned how to help elderly women from migrant backgrounds to integrate into their host communities by sharing stories. The educators gained new skills to promote social inclusion and create connections.

The training also provided long-term benefits, as the adult educators can implement what they learned to their communities, creating storytelling workshops that encourage integration, understanding, respect and social inclusion. By upgrading their methodologies, trainers are now better equipped to create inclusive and accessible environments for elderly women where they can share their experiences.
